Young Pianists children 6-9 year olds, piano lessons

Musikgarten is a sequential pre-piano, and piano course offering a pathway to music literacy that prepares a child for successful piano study, another instrument or choral work. Joy is fostered through music, story, and movement, as we learn to improvise, write and read music. We build on each child's musical foundation, layering on additional skills at the appropriate time and pace.

Sarah Nishioka has been teaching music, movement and art to children for 17 years. She homeschooled her own children, and has been teaching in preschools, homeschool co-ops, music and community centers, and the Seattle Homeschool Resource Center.

Sarah teaches with the child foremost in her heart and mind- with a BA in Education from The Evergreen State College, a Montessori Certification from United Montessori Association, an AAS in ECE from NSCC, teacher certifications in Musikgarten, Music Together, Art Through Nature, and a life-long love of and training in music (piano, flute, recorder, dulcimer, ukulele, choral groups), art (drawing, painting, pottery, crafts) and movement (folk dance, modern dance, brain dance).
